127th Express Entry Draw
On October 2nd Canada held its Express Entry draw, and issued 3,900 invitations to apply seeking the permanent residence. Express Entry Candidates in the pool had to score 464 Comprehensive Ranking System points for selection in the round.

Canada Immigration Gets a Boost

This draw also marked an increase of 300 in comparison to the draw held on Sep 18th. This is the first instance since Jan 23, 2019 that IRCC invited 3,900 candidates to submit the application for Canadian PR.

Through the system of Express Entry   Canada mainly sources skilled overseas workers. All Eligible candidates enter the pool of Express Entry and also get the Comprehensive Ranking System score calculated on education, age, and work experience and language proficiency factors. Moreover the job offer is not a requirement for selection. The top ranked candidates get the invitation to apply for Canadian PR in regular pool draws.

The norms for entering the pool of Express Entry, candidates firstly need to meet the eligibility demands in any of the three Federal Skilled immigration categories of:

  • Federal Skilled Trades Class,
  • Federal Skilled Worker Class,
  • Canadian Experience Class

The tie break mechanism

IRCC has also applied the tie break mechanism in this draw; and the cutoff date for candidates was submission of profiles before Sep 20th, 2019, and the time was 15:05:04 UTC. Thus all candidates with a CRS scores of and above 464, entering their profile in the pool prior to the specific date and time, got an ITA.

After calculating 3,900 ITAs of the present draw the total invitations issued in this year stands at 67,300. Also the final quarter of the year will determine if, IRCC can surpass the ITA record standing at 89,800 invitations in 2018. Presently the Draws are held in a space of two weeks.

Also formerly, scores went up when there was a pause between two draws, and the draws held with short intervals, helped in reducing the CRS score.

In this year the country adopted an innovative approach in various provincial nominee programs.

Canada immigration through the provinces

After the draw held on Sep 18th, there were many rounds in provincial selection which also targeted candidates belonging to Express Entry.

  • British Columbia invited 402 candidates to seek its provincial nomination on October 1; and 109 invitations were sent to aspirants having the Express Entry profile.
  • On Sep 26th Saskatchewan also invited 404 candidates to seek its provincial nomination.
  • On Sep 25th In the Manitoba draw 15 Express Entry candidates were invited for the provincial nomination.
  • Alberta draw was aligned with Express Entry and held on Sep 18th, which invited candidates having a CRS score of 350.
  • Finally, on Sep 11th, Alberta also issued invitations to aspirants with a score of 302.
  • In Nova Scotia 22 carpenters were selected through the Express Entry in the Nova Scotia Labor Market Priorities Stream.

Many provinces had impressive activities

  • PEI issued 122 invitations in the program, aligned with Express Entry and also in Labor Impact and Business Permit streams. There was no breakdown by the province for candidates of Express Entry, and no disclosure of score requirement.

The initial step to pursue provincial nomination streams aligned with Express Entry is to submit the profile in Express Entry. Finally, the increase in the draw size by IRCC was good.
