Details

The eleventh draw of Express Entry for the candidates seeking permanent residency in 2018 was held on May 30. This draw had an unusual format and was conducted exclusively for the Federal Skilled Trades Class and Provincial Nominee Program.

The CRS cut-off score for FSTC candidates was 288 and 500 FSTC candidates received the ITA. This cut-off threshold was a record for the current year. This draw also used the tie-break mechanism. There were many FSTC candidates who had a score of 288 CRS points, but such candidates who had the profile in the pool for a long time got a priority. All eligible candidates securing 288 CRS points before June 7, 2017 at 20:11:13 UTC were successful in receiving the invitation.

Some facts

The CRS cut-off for PNP candidates was 902, and 200 candidates received the ITA. The tie-break mechanism was applied in this draw and candidates securing 902 points and having a profile before March 23, 2018 at 05:38:02 UTC obtained it. Including this draw the total number of invitations issued in the current year is 32,200.

The Canadian government brought out the Immigration Plan for 2018-2020 on Nov 1st, 2017. It showed the commitment to increase the numbers by using the Canadian Experience Class, the Federal Skilled Worker Class, and Federal Skilled Trades Class. The target is to invite 250,000 in three years. Additionally, there is a target of 184,000 for the PNP candidates before the Dec 2020.

The future

Several invitations rounds are scheduled in the future months, as well as years, which will benefit the interested persons and families who intend to migrate to Canada. The CRS is a score from the maximum 1,200, which is in use to attract applicants in Federal Economic Programs. The Express Entry system started in January 2015 for processing residency applications.

The score is presently in use as a point of cut-off in Express Entry draws. It selects such candidates who are likely to be economically successful in Canada. For entering the pool, the candidates must be eligible in one of the three programs – the Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Worker Class, or Federal Skilled Trades Class.

Special feature

Candidates belonging to the PNP streams get 600 extra CRS points on receiving the nomination in one of the Programs, which is in alignment with Express Entry. They get the ITA in a later draw of the pool. A candidate gets 260 points for being proficient in English and French, and a couple can score 270 points. The present Express Entry draw was the 91st after the commencement of the Express Entry system.
