Alberta Reaches its 2019 Federal Immigration Nomination Limit of 6000

The immigration authorities in Alberta reached the nomination target of 6,000 as set by the federal government for 2019. From December 6th, 2019, further nominations will not be issued in Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program till January 2020.

The Future Is Promising

The processing of applications by the province will continue as there are 1,750 aspirants in the queue, but the issuing of certificates has stopped. The limit was set by IRCC. The province conducted a draw in the stream of Alberta Express Entry on December 6th in which 132 letters about Notification of Interest were sent to candidates who had a CRS score of 400.

The stream requirements are that these candidates must state interest to immigrate permanently to the province, and also work in a job that supports economic development as well as diversification.

During 2019 Alberta has conducted 29 draws to tap the federal pool of Express Entry.

The Requirements for Alberta Express Entry

The eligibility norms to receive the notification of interest, for the candidates are:

  • Having the Express Entry profile that is active in the federal pool
  • Stating an interest to immigrate permanently to Alberta
  • Working in a job supporting the economic development as well as diversification
  • A CRS score of 300

These Factors enhance the chances of aspirants to get the notification of interest:

  • A local job offer from employers and work experience in the province
  • Becoming a graduate from a post-secondary institution in Canada
  • A relative that lives in Alberta like the parents, children or sibling

These Factors decrease the chances of aspirants to get the notification of interest:

  • The expiry of Express Entry profile in the subsequent three months
  • Working in an occupation that is not eligible
