The strength of Canadian Study Permit holders was 572,415 in 2018 registering an increase of 16 percent rise on the 492,425 recorded in 2017.

These figures cover students studying in a high school, college, and universities in Canada.

The increase in Study Permit was 180 percent in the past ten years.

Associated Clauses

International students qualify for working in Canada after they graduate through applying for a PG Work Permit. They can Get Canadian work experience by the special work permit that is issued for study program length for three years. This work experience is used for qualifying to get permanent residence.

Requirements in Post Graduation Work Permit

  • A study involving full-time in Canada in such programs that have a duration of 8 months
  • Graduating from a public secondary institution, or the private the secondary institution, or the private institution having authorization by provincial decree for conferring the degrees
  • Submitting the application to get the work permit in 90 days following receipt of written confirmation that the study program is completed
  • Receiving eligibility notification to obtain the degrees, diplomas or certificates
  • Possessing the Canada study permit that is valid

Citizenship Issue

Recent changes related to the citizenship requirements benefit international students and also allow them to count the time spent in the country while studying to get the citizenship application.  They can count half-day for a full day that is spent to the maximum of one year.

Simultaneously, the requirement of physical the presence was slashed to three years from four years allowing global students to get citizenship two years after they become permanent residents.
