Good news for Indian students who are currently studying in the UK or planning to study in the coming years. The UK government announced on December 27 that all international students could start finding for jobs after giving the exam or submitting their thesis and get a Tier 2 visa immediately. This rule applies from January 2018 onward. Earlier, international students had to wait to get their marks and comments on the thesis, before searching for a job. International students get a student visa that lasts for their course, which is at least 12 months or longer, and extra four months to find the job. But by the time their results come out, much of the extra four months is over, and students have to return to their home country sadly. This rule has reduced international students coming to the UK, especially after Brexit, as they can no more move freely in the European Union. Many companies also reduced the workforce in the UK, because it isn’t a big market as compared to the European Union. The UK earlier had a post-study work visa scheme, but after it expired in 2012, the government didn’t renew it. Students in the UK and those planning to go there are only hoping that post-UK’s official Brexit in March 2019; the country will reinstall its post-study work permit.
